We all like a happy ending story for a car.......here's mine.

In 1997 my father passed away and I had his 1979 two door Chevrolet Caprice shipped out west from Ontario.

I drove for about three years and didn't do much to it except having the transmission rebuilt. It was a great car but

with four kids aged 16,14,12 and 10  it really wasn't a car for my troop. I bought a Suburban and parked

the Caprice on the pad in the backyard. Go forward 23 years, I'm now 76 years old and the Caprice is still there.

Looking at it the other week I decided I'm never going to do anything with it so I threw it up on Kijiji for sale.

I got a lot of interest and a dozen people wanting to buy it.

Trying to be fair,I set up a viewing process starting with the first person who answered the ad and was interested in buying it.

The first guy came , looked, and gave ne a $100 dollar deposit, all in ten minutes. He said he was buying it for a collector.

The 2 door Caprice was the only model the collector didn't have from that era.

The car will be shipped to Holland where it will be totally restored to factory condition. That's something I never expected to happen.

The buyer told me I would be updated on the progress of the rebuild.

I'm sure my father would be pleased knowing his Caprice is going into a car collection in Europe.

Funny you post this. I've been thinking of getting a Caprice like yours as my new daily driver for the summer. Nice to see your's went to a good home.

Congrats on the sale, George.  It must have been hard to see your Dad's car go, but at least it will get more attention than it might have gotten if it stayed in Canada.

Todd:  what about this?  It's been for sale for awhile and has already had a price drop:

I saw that Parisienne. It looks quite good. I may wait until spring to get something though.

Nice story George, nice old car.

My Dad sold his 40 Fords to a museum in holland about 1998, they had over 400 fords. His was a convertible and a pickup.
