That was my thread over at Team Chevelle that got updated.
I've had computer problems and haven't received many thread updates.
I'll have to find Clint's thread on here as I was unable to login for a longtime.
Thanks
Randy
Yes, I should have explained. I think you mentioned that possibly a 454 tall deck existed when I said they did, my head was on a chopping block and they were all holding an axe!
Anyway, I was glad you asked about it because I know it exists. One day I'll find a truck with one in it and take a video to post online showing me with Bigfoot/Lockness Monster/Unicorn and whatever else a 454 tall deck title can be!

I know I have a 1980 GMC mediums brochure somewhere. In the meantime I am looking at my 1984 brochure and it states "The 7.0 Litre (427 CID) V8 is the largest displacement gasoline engine available in GMC mediums. It is an oversquare-designed engine to reduce piston travel and provide high torque..." It almost sounds like they are countering that there was anything larger before, and they seem to be extolling the virtue of a shorter stroke. The 454 is of course a stroked 427 with higher piston speeds for a given RPM.
I really want to see if I can find that '80 brochure for reference, as I recall it emphasized the brand new Top Kick with the diesel engine.
