A milestone for Mrs. 4SPEED427 !

Today my wife celebrated 40 years at the dealership which I also worked at. She started Oct 10 1983, I started there Nov 4 1985. I did exactly 35 years there before I retired 3 years ago. She celebrated in style today, she retired!

So happy to have her at home all the time now. Although she will be no longer an official employee there, she will be working as a consultant for them (working from home) on a very limited basis, likely 4-5 days a month and not full days.

I have looked forward to this day for many years. We are officially old retired bums now!

Congratulations Carl! I know how that feels, very fresh in my mind as my wife also retired a few weeks ago after over 35 years in the public sector and she's home now too! Only that I haven't retired yet and don't feel like it at the moment.

Enjoy your time together!

Congrats go out to her (and you) Carl. She'll not believe it's true for a bit. It takes some time to sink in.

My wife went in 2017, myself in 18. I actually still have dreams (scary) that they want me back in on that line.

That was just over 30 years ago, August 28 1993! if I am right I believe there were 5 big blocks lined up along the wall of the garage at that time...

The amazing thing is my wife has given birth to 2 children, worked another 30 years since then and still looks very much like she did that day.

She is, especially today. It's 10:30 and she's lying in bed reading!

It's been far too much lately. I'm going to have to start saying no some of the time when they call but I feel bad when I do because it puts them in a real bind. They have nobody else local to do it so they either end up calling in guards from an hour or more away, or taking the prisoners to other jails where a guard is on duty, also an hour or more away. And that is a waste of time for officers who need to be dealing with other calls.

I have to be careful, if I earn too much I'll get my old age pension clawed back on me...
