Source for 5/16" soft rivets

Does anyone know where I can buy 5/16" rivets, maybe about 1" long? They would look similar to the rivets on this reproduction exhaust hanger. I realize I couldn't get the nice dimpled look like where these were riveted. I'm ok if when I rivet the side sticking through it looks the same as the head, maybe 3/4" or so in diameter. I'm looking to buy just a few and sure would prefer if I could do it from a local chain store of some sort, not have to mail order them.

This picture shows how they look on each side. Pic is for reference only, I'm not making a hanger like this.

I havent seen those in a long time. I think theyre called semi-tubular rivets. They were used in sheet metal fabrication. Maybe talk to a fabrication shop. They are probably still available.

Good suggestion. We have a number of local manufacturers. One builds gravel trailers, one builds grain augers, one builds earth moving equipment, one builds huge liquid storage tanks. I know a number of employees at all of the plants so I'll see. Thanks.

McMaster-Carr was the go-to place for odd pieces. www.mcmaster.com/products/rivets/rivet-type~hollow/

They have exactly what I'm looking for. I'll have to figure out how to order now. I assume it's mail order only?

Thanks Barry.

Have you tried Ken Catton 427 Berry st. Auveco dealer.
AUVECO has an online catalog.

No I haven't. Good suggestion. I went there once likely 20 years ago and they sure had stuff. I think I have an old Auveco catalogue too. Thanks!

There is a difference in semi tubular and solid.....  The solid aluminum were used extensively in a number of instances in the C2-C3 vettes. The tubular, I can only think of one spot, on the hinge on the no draft windows on mid 60's cars...

I should have specified, I'm looking for steel, not aluminum rivets.
