Hello to the 'Friends of the Feather'

Been a longtime Pontiac fan, and thought I would say Hi.

 

I currently have 3 old cars, a 1967 Tempest, a 1951 Chev Pick Up, and my latest project a 1958 Pontiac Pathfinder Wagon. (recently sold a 1964 Pontiac Lemans convert)

I will be starting a Build thread for the wagon soon, as it will be a long term project, (A LOT of rust) but thought I would say Hi.

 

Hope you all have something to do to your Pontiacs for the winter

Welcome Tempest, you've got a nice selection of auto's.

I can't remember if the Pathfinder is a US or Canadian model, but with the snow in the background I'm guessing you're in Canada. You'll note the 1958 front end sheet metal varies substantially between US & Canadian models.

Hey Guys, I am in Oakville ON (1 hour west of Toronto)

The Pathfinder is a Canadian model, so it has/had Chev drivetrain (261 inline 6) with Chev suspension, however, I believe the sheet metal is the same between the US and Can models.

I have a Pontiac 350 for it, and a TH350 trans. but the first step is addressing the rust. (floors and rockers are gone)

If anyone has any 58 parts, let me know. (tail light bezels, side 1/4 trim, radio, door panel trim...etc) don't need the shiny stuff now, but will eventually

 Welcome here, and that's a group of nice cars in those pictures!

Be careful with the sheet metal. I know on the 60's big Canadian Pontiacs a lot of the metal is unique. I thought the 50's were the same but I can't say for sure.

I have the front bumper and grill and headlight bezels, and the front sheet metal is in decent condition.

The only thing I need for the front (that I can think of) are the PONTIAC letters for the hood.

Welcome to CP, nice 58 project, a 348 would look good in it. 58s have some unique things about them, compared to any other year, even though they are an xframe, like 59-64. Highly recommend a Canadian Pontiac shop manual and a 1958 Chevy assembly manual, lots of things useful in the assembly manual and I dont believe they made one for Canadian Pontiacs.

There is a 58 guy in the Halifax area, he owns or has owned an Impala, Cameo pickup, Cadillac, cabover, Buick, Olds,etc and he had a wagon like yours, a 4 door but that I think he sold. He may have some parts I saw 4 complete Parisienne doors off a 58 sedan in a local junkyard I could check on if you need any of that kind on thing.

hey, Thanks Guys,

Burlington, you are next door !

donSSDD - the main items I am looking for, are tail light bezels, the stainless front fender trim (wraps around the front corners of each fender,) and I will need a 1/4 panel trim piece. (I have to check what I have, but I think it is the lower piece on the drivers side) but any and all exterior trim would be considered

I am willing to consider any 58 trim parts that I dont have, or to replace/upgrade what I already have Thanks


I just read the thread of the guy and his wife who built the 64 wagon, very nice, and what a great colour

I really like the Tempest. Unique color. I almost bought a 67 Tempest convertible with low miles, about 20 years ago. Still regret not buying it.
What have you got under the hood ? 326 ?

LandShark - the Tempest has a Pontiac 400 with a Muncie 4 speed, and 3.55 posi rear. (Heart of a Goat)  I tried to keep it clean and stock looking

 

4speed427 - so many great years of Pontiac styling, it's hard to pick 1. (I see your Morris Missile is a 66)

Welcome from Toronto. I like the Tempest Custom as well. All are nice IMHO.

I looked at a '67 Tempest 2-dr post in Toronto back in 2011 that was a former OHC-6 auto but was running a 305 / th350. With the OHC-6 missing somewhere back in California I thought the hot inline Chevy six on my stand would go in there and the late model 305 could be sold off. Instead I spent the money on an anniversary gift.
