Late Christmas Gift to Tackle East Coast Rust

I've always wanted an induction heater. Santa must have heard me whine about rusty bolts out here and this Vevor Induction heater arrived today.

I'm impressed! It comes in this fancy metal case (and it's lockable lol)

VEVOR1.jpg

Inside is the unit and a number of different "elements" that can be used on different sized bolts. The wires can be bent for better access. theres also a couple of unbent wires to make your own elements as well as a couple of

flat elements that apparently can be used to remove decals from sheetmetal.

To test it I put a bolt and nut in a vice (excuse the mess in my shed) and attached an element close to the size of the nut. You simply hold the element around the bolt and press the power button. In less than 40 seconds the nut was glowing red hot.

Here's a short video

When these first came out they were about $700. A sneak peek on Vevor showed this model (1200 watts) is under $300.

I see there are more powerful models available on Amazon etc however this should suit me fine. I'll report back when I have to use it in the "real world"

Never heard of them but red hot sounds impressive.

How did your Vevor diesel heater work?

The diesel heater works really well! I now have it in the small single car garage. While it's not insulated I can get it from (for example) -3C to +6 in about an hour. Perfect for working in. It doesn't use much fuel at all and the wireless remote works from inside my house (about 50 feet away).

I forgot to post a link to the induction heater. Here it is: https://www.vevor.ca/magnetic-induction-heater-c_10315/vevor-1000w-ductor-magnetic-induction-heater-kit-flameless-heat-10-coils-110v-p_010624777072

There's quite a few cool items on the vevor website.

Very cool.  i always thought they would be good for removing exhaust pipe nuts at the manifold.  Its dicey puting a torch so close to all the engine bay and wires.  This induction heater would work good for that aplication? i think.

Great tool. Now you'll be taking manifolds off just for the fun of it. Go figure!

Hey Todd,
I was browsing Vevor all week. They seem to have a good bunch of tools for a decent price with good reviews. I was looking at the press for $147 along with some other tools.
Have you thought about signing up to their affiliate program and sharing the links here?

I thought seriously of doing so but haven't followed through. I may do so sooner than later since Google informed me that after 10 years of me posting their ads on here they can't confirm I own the forum and have supplied a special file that the Activeboard owners need to insert in their forum software to verify that I run this forum. They haven't yet decided if they are going to allow this. If not I'll lose an important source of income for the site in less than 30 days.
