Points?

Anybody still run Points in their distributor? I have run across some NOS AC Delco points and condensers.

Will be listing for sale soon.

I want to run the 1969, 2+2, 427 on points.

The experts are shaking their heads but I don't care.

The car will never be raced.

2 of my vehicles still run points. The price of points were going through the roof, so I stocked up at a NAPA store a number of years ago.

At least with points it's basically 100% that you won't get stranded.

Still have points in my Beaumont. They were recommended before I took the car to Hot August Nights in Reno.

I've only used points my whole life except the factory electronic setup in my 66 Grande Parisienne big block car in the 80's.

The Grande Parisienne I bought from Ken last year has a Pertronix which I plan to convert back to points.

As Mark said, odds of getting stranded with points is very slim.

I'd be interested in a set as a standby if they'd fit my 283.

I just looked these up (I too run points... err when my Firebird was on the road);

These 'D106P' are the standard points that pretty much every bread & butter GM v8 used;
These have the breaker arm spring clips (all the better ones had a screw type terminal).

I have points information in a duo-tang by my desk, because these are parts that I keep an eye out for incase I should come across some at the right price.

I believe that the breaker arm tension is somewhere around 20oz, where as the better ones (D112P) are at around 30oz pressure;
I believe these points are good up to about 5,500rpm.

I hope this helps someone :)

if you run points you're car will still run if we ever get hit with an EMP (solar or otherwise). Great for zombie apocolypses too!

 It would depend on how close the EMP source was. You could keep a spare coil in a small faraday pouch just in case.
