Oil drain plug torque?

Hey there, my Parisienne is dripping oil from the plug (at least), went to one of the shops, they said they torqued it but it doesn't seem to be true.

Does anyone know what should be the torque so I'd do it myself and don't destroy the thread?IMG_20240704_183222.jpg

Does it have a gasket on it? Requires a 1/2" gasket, typically nylon.

I guess I should have asked if it had a 'new' gasket on it.   I'd wager if there's one present, it's old.  I put a new one on every oil change.

Clint is right on the money with using a new gasket every time. They are cheap and worth every cent for a leak-free install. I personally have always used a copper 'crush' washer on my cars and have never had a drip. Nylon sounds like it might be a better and cheaper option.

The one issue with nylon is they can crack. I suspect that is only when they get older but I've seen it a number of times.

Ive been changing oil, both in a shop and at home, since I was sixteen. Never used a torque wrench on a drain plug, never stripped one and never had a leak. I go hand tight, snug it up with the wrench and give it one last tap.

A teflon washer is a must on the older cars. My newer one has an o-ring grooved right in to the plug.

Replaced oil and the seal, seems better now. Thanks everyone, seemed the seal was the issue.
