4.0 Litre, 500 HP, 7 speed PDK transmission - Not everyone's cup of tea but I take a pot full

My summer cottage get to drive something insane continues. Last year was a 96 point 65 Big Block 4 speed Corvette, this year an absolutely incredible Porsche 911 GT3 - RS. Fastest car I have ever been in, 100 kph comes up in 3 seconds, 160 kph in seems like a blink of an eye after that., This is a street legal race car, racing seats, 5 point harness, roll cage, no knobs on interior doors no insulation, carbon fibre body panels, even a # on the door. This belongs to a Muskoka cottage neighbour who tracks the car. First time driving a Porsche and now I understand!

I had a chance to drive a new'ish Porsche Carerra 4S a couple of weeks ago, and I can attest to the power. nimbleness, and can I say, comfort of these cars.

Truly amazing.

And

You have no idea, owner was driving much too fast on Moon River Road, posted 50 KPH, he was rounding curves at 130 when all of a sudden the car bottomed out on a slight right bumpy part, pitched the thing left and we were catapulting towards the left shoulder and dense forest, I was bracing for impact but only God knows how he saved it. He told me that when the car landed he matted it and pointed the car where he wanted to go, it worked and I suspect his years of racing driving allows me to type this tonight. I was much more mindful when I got behind the wheel so I got us out to Hwy 169  a posted 80 KPH where I could lean on it in short bursts  Accelerating from a standstill is incredible as you can feel the G's in your gut and I was in sheer disbelief when I turned out on the highway, matted it and looked down to see 120 kph in a blink. The sound and torque of this engine could be its own novel! THRILL RIDE.

And to 66 Beau, yes it could cost you your license but more than that it could cost you your life.

There is a reason these cars have endured for so long. Despite being rear-engine potential widow-makers, they have such performance that you have to be flying to lose it in one.

As I like to say, "Zero to 100 faster than you can say, License, Ownership and Insurance."

I remember riding in a 1999 911 (I think they were officially 996s by then). The young lady driving her new Porsche gave me a demonstration of the brakes. No stranger to crazy driving, still I was nervous at what high velocity meant in a downtown Hamilton street. Then she hit the brakes and we went from flying to stopped. Instantly. You need your seatbelts.

Can you direct me to the thread about the 65 BB Corvette?

Was it a roadster and if so was it silver?

Buddy had a 65 396 roadster in summer 66/67, silver and we are trying to find out if it still exists..smile
