66 Acadians in Chateau Slate color!

Has anyone seen a Chateau Slate 1966 Acadian?   its included in the 18 colors on the canadian GM color chips,   and the brochure does say 66 Acadians come in 18 color choices

I know there is talk of USA built stuff that Chateau Slate was only on a SuperSport,  but thats just theory.

Second question:  what interior color could you get with Chateau Slate exterior?

I remember seeing a '66 Chevy II Nova SS in the Canadian Old Car Auto Trader, national edition, back in the 1980s sometime. It was in Alberta, belonged to an old lady in a retirement home (so the story always goes) and had a 283 with a 3-speed manual column shift & no console! I do recall it had a black vinyl roof cover. That would have been added later, as the Chevy II did not offer a vinyl top until 1967, and then only in the U.S. Besides, we had D99 mouldings freely optional in Canada and people actually bought them.

I'm going by the U.S. Chevelle charts for 1966. Chateau Slate was offered with black, white & black (SS 396), blue (300, 300 Deluxe, Malibu), & bright blue (Malibu convertible & SS 396 models). That suggests that 1966 Acadians offered Chateau Slate with blue interior (only) on the Invader & Canso series, black or bright blue on the Canso Sport Deluxe series.

Chateau Slate is a kind of muted silver with a greyness to it. They seemingly didn't offer red interior with it but I think it could work. Chateau Slate was offered on the 1965 models and was a carry-over for 1966. I have pictures on an old drive of a factory Oshawa-built 1965 300 Deluxe with aqua interior.

Blue Charcoal is another Canada-only 1966 colour that was offered across the board. It was actually a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado color. I've seen them with black, white, & medium blue interior on various GM Canada models.

Cypress Green was a 1965 colour that in Canada-only was carried over to 1966.

People talk about Royal Plum being a rare 1967-only color. In Canada we had it first on the 1966 models before the 67s. We called it Plum Mist. It was actually a 1966 U.S. Pontiac-sourced color.

Very cool info Cam! As you may have guessed. This is one of my next 1/25th scale projects. Looks like it will be a 1966 canso 2dr ht. Chateau slate. Blue interior. Possibly 6cyl 3 on tree. And I like your console delete thing. But maybe it will be a non-SD bench. Hmm. Decisions!!!

While attending the old Waterdown Swap Meet at the soccer fields I looked at a 1966 Nova in the car show field. It was painted in Chateau Slate Grey and had a repaint on the driver's door that didn't match very well. I spoke to the owner and he said it was a survivor, original paint other than the repair. Cam you may be able to confirm the paint information that this colour was only available for a very short period. I was going to paint my 1966 Canso SD this colour but my painter convinced me it would be better Tuxedo Black.
