261 head question
(Preview)
Well, I think someone replaced my motor's head with a cheap crappy common Chevy head - the 'steam holes' are in the block but not in the head gasket or head: (above pic is NOT my head gasket, but a correct 261 head gasket) What do you think? Thanks, Dave

I do know that the only real perfect technique of doing this is to remove the cylinder head from the engine and manually remove the carbon from the head surface. I confess, 5 years ago I was trying to test-fit the polyurethane mock block, after (following advice from others) denting the passenger side firewall to clear the big block, and ... unexpectedly (to me, anyhow) there was major interference on the driver's side too. I gave up, for a while, and 'a while...

(Preview)
I'm still confused about what oil to run in my newly rebuilt 239 C.I. 6 Cyl. I'm a big fan of synthetic, but I've heard it's not the best for our old iron horses. I want to do a test fire soon but would like some opinions before I oil her up.
