Looking to do a swap of the front end on my old Poncho and looking for any frame diagrams with dimensions. Hello everybody! I have a 1957 Pontiac Chieftain. The car was setting a long time outside and needs lots of work. My problem at the moment, is that the fuel tank leaks in about 3 different spots. Cleaning waterfall hood trim. Appears to have traces of paint in channels. Should there be paint ( ie. hood colour) or should the trim be all chrome?

Front brakes & hub questions - 1957 Pathfinder
(Preview)
Hi guys, I was doing the brakes on my '57 yesterday and found out the hard way (when I opened the package containing the new drum I'm installing and compared it to the drum/hub I had just removed) that the hub is riveted to the original drum. I simply ground the rivets off, drove the drums off of the hubs and...

1951 Pontiac Fleetleader Deluxe Brakes

Hi all, I just recently purchased a 1951 Pontiac Fleetleader Deluxe (seen in the profile picture). After searching for details about the car I came upon this forum and noticed it was a wealth of information for Canadian Pontiacs. There doesn't seem to be too much online about these Canadian cars. I...

1953 Pathfinder Steering Wheel & Column Removal
(Preview)
Hi all, Tear-down is coming along well, just the removal of the steering wheel and column has me hesitant to tackle before asking as I'm relatively unfamiliar with it. Is there a snap ring to pop off the horn button? or should it twist and pop off with a little encouragement? I'm also not sure how the tub...

1951 Canadian Pontiac Steering Box
(Preview)
I understand that the steering box on a 51 Canadian Pontiac is 100 Chev: ours is loose and I prefer to get a rebuilt unit instead of a kit since it is that same amount of labour, or less. Can someone suggest a good source for steering box - hopefully in Canada. Ron Cain 250-477-3755 -- Edited by classics...

Anyone do a disc brake conversion - need a winter project

I've updated the original brake system to a dual master but just not totally comfortable with the braking ability of the system. Thinking of doing a disk brake / power booster conversion this winter and wondering if anyone has done it to our Ponchos? Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers!!!!

I started the process of rebuilding the front end on my 57 this weekend. She's all original up front, the ball joints still have the rivets. STILL CONFUSED about RIMS
(Preview)
I know that our Cdn.Pontiacs are basically female Chevys and I think the '49-'52 runs a 5 x 4.5" or 5 x 4.75" 15" rim with the 5 riveted dogfish hubcap clips. The US ponchos are 5 x 5" and only have 3 clips. My question is: Should I be looking for CDN. Chevy rims or are the OEM CDN. Ponti...
