RE: Red River Situation

Hang tight, Carl. Your home has made the big time. If you're near St. Adolphe, I saw it at 10:06 pm Eastern on "The National". So, to be sure, I watched again at 11:00, and there it was.

Best wishes for a happy ending.

Are you sure it was our's? I watched most of the National but maybe I missed it. We are actually about 25 miles south of St Adolphe.

I did see an aerial video of Morris again today that had our big evergreen grove in it.

Oh, and your picture is outdated! Here's the current view.

I forgot, did you mean tonight or last night? I assumed last night but then it occurred to me it's not 11 here yet but it is elsewhere.

Sorry, Carl. I guess not. It flashed by quickly and I paid too much attention to the garage, and not the house, but it's close.

Ha, I wish downward was the trend. My prediction is that 2 weeks from now we will not have dropped a foot. We'll see how close I am.

That's the part that wears a guy down. The peak stays and stays and stays. It gets to the point that it feels like it will never end.

Are you starting to miss your job yet ? Our are you sort of enjoying the seclusion ?

I must say I would far rather be at work!

The seclusion has it's moments but 99% of the time I would rather be at work and having a stressful day!

I have to make sure I don't spend too much time thinking about how long it's going to be like this. Knowing there is likely close to a month of this ahead can be overwhelming if a person dwells on it.

Carl, you need remote network access at home to your work's network so you can get into their Parts database and then you can take calls for people wanting parts. biggrin

Steve

Not yet. I am not able to focus well at this point. Always something else needing my attention.

Once the water begins to drop is when the boredom sets in and I start. At least that is how it was in 1997. So far I've just done some garage cleanup as far as car stuff goes.

Joel

I actually have all that.

Hit me with all you got. I have parts books at home for all the old cars and can log in to my computer at work for everything else!

I should have known. Well after the water receeds and the stress is lowering you have an option ot keep yourself busy... Though working on the Acadian would be a lot more fun.

Soon enough! It sure looks like we are cresting. We have gone 23 hours now with no visible increase on my measuring stick.  That is exciting although I know from 1997 that I am still looking at 3 weeks of boating for sure. It recedes very slowly.  However, once it starts to drop it's a bit more relaxing and I can do some fun stuff.

Yeah, I know. You've already seen too much of this picture!!!

I was sitting exactly like this picture a few minutes ago. It was around dusk and I was on the phone.  I just happened to look out and low and behold, who walks by but Rocky Raccoons brother! I guess I have (had!) more than one problem coon here....

The waves aren't doing me any favours on my new dirt here beside the shed. I had no chance to seed it last fall after the shed was done. Figures it had to flood before I could get grass on there....

This picture shows what is happening although not too clearly.

So far we have survived, yes. I suspect there will be little or no increase now for the next few days. After that I just have to sit here for another 3 weeks to make sure the pump takes care of the seepage. By next week I may be a bit more relaxed and able to get some work done in the garage, finally.

Carl, you have a lot of patience and a good temprament!
Hope you remember to seed the embankment when the time is right.
No good letting the soil wash away!
Coming Tuesday, I will show the care group what you are coping with.

Man, what a ho hum day! It was cold, so no boat outing. No new raccoons although I did "have a talk" with a pesky muskrat who came ashore...

Never took any pictures, also no increase in water level to speak of, so that is good. Our neighbour and his son came by and stopped in. That is a highlight these days if you see a boat! Also, a plane circled here and I suspect he was taking pictures. Now if I can only find out who it was so I can get copies of the pictures if he took some!

No outing to church tomorrow, sadly. It's forecast to be -1 tonight with a high of 9 tomorrow with rain. Not the weather to go out for a boat ride of 3 1/2 miles to the car before we drive to church. I think our service tomorrow will be the one that we watch on TV that comes from Winnipeg, Church of the Rock. Hard to put money in the offering bag though!!!

Now that we are crested I see boredom (and hopefully some car work) in the future while we wait a few weeks for the water to leave.

One thing I have learned about floods----never say something is set in stone.

We came up almost 2" overnight again........

Good thing I have a sense of humour!!!
