My 66 beaumont had two dents from someone pushing down on the hood-a rust repair on the inside.

I've heard many times out doing appraisals how poor the repop stuff is-but being a bodyman I am open to thinking that this stuff is suffering from inexperienced installers-hey at least its available ! and how bad could it be ! everyone uses it !

I bought a new hood- when I went to bolt it on the mounting holes were one size smaller ! the sheet metal is thinner, the center is not glued to the frame, the hood DOES NOT FIT, its high in the middle at the cowl by 1/4 inch ! low on one side by 1/2 inch ! low on the other side by a little more! its high on both sides along the fenders and low at the front ! the gap down the sides is good, meets the front edge of the front fenders well but at the cowl the gap is close to 1/2 inch on each side and tight in the middle. Needless to say it'll be less work to fix the original hood-its great this stuff is available but I've heard a ton of bad stories-I tried to get credit I'm stuck with it-its great this stuff is available but avoid it where possible-its CRAP !

Thanks for the heads up on the repro stuff.I have been a  bodyman now for almost 23 years now so I know alot about the  TAIWAN sheet metal.I have restored a 68 chevelle - 69 beaumont but with NOS metal. Now that most of this stuff has been used up we are left with either rust free stuff ( even that is getting harder to find ) or the repro TAIWAN crap.I am asking about this because I have a chance to sell my 65 Dodge Coronet 2dr.post project car from Texas that is for the most part rust free and I am wondering if I should get rid of it to get a rusty Canadian car.( 67 SD ) that needs 1/4s, trunk floor and so on. I want a 67 SD but.....

On the postive side theres lotsa 67 Chevelles out there to steal parts from, even semi rusty ones that can be butt welded into shape would be worthwhile rather than dealing with aftermarket-just use offshore where theres no other choice. Buy the 67 SD my favorite car ! always has always will
