The 59 was originally red & white, with red intreior so you're right on that one.
Would the 6A have anything to do with a padded dash?

Could very well be, the 59 Impala 4dr seems to have a padded dash, no clear outline on the speedo housing. The Pontiacs do seem to have a padded dash as well.

Any idea on the BS0?

The only other option the car had was back up lamps that may have had a need for a code on the body build.
