Got pipes Too

New Pipes too!
I had decided, that the StratoChief, was too quiet, compared to the Ventura II, with its Flowmaster mufflers..    I had talked to previous owners, and they had said, the car ran 13.40@ 101 with 2.73's and 14 inch CTC all season radials and no posi...
They mentioned that the car only ran like that, with open headers!!   When I installed 4 speed Muncie, I was disappointed with the get up and go (compared to the 350 Turbo)  Of course I was running, closed exhaust, with stock 2 inch? front pipes into Dynamax old man Turbo mufflers....
I took car out to "Twisted Pipe"  Wednesday and picked it up Thursday night..     Bob took off old tissue paper thin header collectors and made up a new set (heavier) and nice curved pipes to Flowmasters 40's  and into the new tailpipes from 06  (500 miles on car since then) He had mentioned a friends car (406 Nova) that ran as fast with Flowmaster as open headers..  I paid him and went to car..
I started it up, and wow  Nice loud rumbling exhaust!!   Great cruise night sounds!!!   I drove the car to the highway, and let it warm up...... As I was heading home, I ran it up to 5000 in 1,2,3 and Holy Poop    What difference!!!   I could not believe it!  felt like 100 HP more!   Wow!  I was grinning from ear to ear    I drove it to storage, and put it away..
After I come back from N.B.  I will get car, to the gear man..    I think 4:11's are the, order of the day, with my new/old 12 bolt positraction..

Now as a kind reminder, this is pure "Canadian Pontiac" power   not your little 3000 lb Nova/Acadian orphan  but a 4200 lb Pontzilla!!!!!
ya hoo!   Go big or go home

It's great that you are making it what you want.
I would guess that the 2" pipe was hindering the power last year.

Just don't do the long haul with the 411's. You'd need a fuel tanker following you! :D

im thinking 2.56s and droping the hammer at about 3grand, watch that new cobra disapear in your mirror. i switched to 336 because i towed with the small block, once the 09 is back in so will the 256s. ive got a budy who runs a 421 with three twos and 24 ish gear and idles like a six, sneaks up on the unsuspecting in that old catilina and still get 23mpg and in the 12s
