drive shaft


I am rewording this topic im tying to get the driveshaft off the reardend its being a b*#ch  the 4 nuts that hold  two u bolts on i striped them soo fast  its almost complety round  so i cut them off then started trying to tap out the u- bolts and there are in there tighter then anything anyone have any idea how to get it out?

Are you saying you can't get the shaft off the car, or you have the shaft off and can't get the u joint out of the shaft?

Do you have a cut off wheel? Likely the only way is to cut through the center of the curved part of the u bolt and the grab and twist each piece with a vise grip.

cool thats what i was thinking. If weather is good ill hopfully be able to pull the engine out and ive got a plan to take the body off with the engine hoist

If youv'e got a mini grinder [4 1/2" ] with a cut off wheel, you should be able to cut the nuts off u-bolts, or cut the "shank" of u-bolt on other side of "pinion "flange. Thought you were going to get another car as this one is too far gone???  Regarding lifting the body, I doubt your engine lift will carry the weight, lift up one end of body & support it, then do same on other end leaving enough room on supports to roll out the chassis

My drive shaft fell out all on it's own this spring, 5 miles from home. Not on the beaumont, my '92 Silverado.
