1966 Pontiac Grande Parisienne -427 engine looking for the original car

Wow, 54 cars with L36.... How rare is that! Years ago there was a big block 4 speed car burned to a crisp at our gov't salvage auction. I always wonder if it was a 396 or 427...

What a fantastic story of getting the big block back to its original car. Beautiful!   smile

Haha, oh, I was a believer before too!!!

That is very very neat to see that car back as it should be, or soon to be at least.

It just needs a pedal added......

Gidday there..  I have a 1966 Grande Parissenne,2dr H/top,that had the 427,twobolt mainbearing motor, and four speed muncie, supplied from factory. This car was imported new by Alister Mcloud,in 1966.He was the New Zealand hillclimb champ with this car,for a couple of years.I am about to start a full resto of the car,and was needing to find as much infomation as possible about it.How do i find out how many were supplied with the 427 etc.The car was light green with a dark green interrior. The gearbox is missing, and the engine was split up,but i know where the original block, and closed chamber heads are ,and can buy them.Where on earth can i buy a" 427 Pontiac",aircleaner decal...probably easier to find some rockin horse ****..i would guess....thanks for your time...Julian Wilde   New Zealand

Wow! We are seeing some rare stuff lately. You'll want to call GM of Canada's Vintage Vehicle Services. With your car's VIN they can provide you with a build sheet as well as production numbers. CLICK HERE for their website.

Please post some photos of your car if possible in a new thread in the Members Ride's area.

In response to your question about the decal, i had the muscle car shop here in Calgary get me all kinds of air cleaner decals. They get them made up by a local sign company. If you had a picture they could get it reproduced for you. The quality is great. I know it's a bit out of your way. If you did want to call them and fax them a copy I'm sure they would be happy to mail it to you. Their number is 403-569-1957.

FYI- I received a call from the owner of the car a week or so ago, he is going to pick up the motor sometime in December.

Thanks again to all.

Would you be willing to start a new topic here with the details on your car and maybe some pictures? Everyone on here who knows me will know how interested I am in a 66 Grande Parisienne 427 4 speed car...

Make sure you buy that original block for your car before something happens and it is not available.

Also, certainly get your documentation from GM of Canada. I think they will be able to tell you how rare your car is, and it certainly is rare.

Howdy I have ordered both Canadian Pontiac 396 and 427 aircleaner decals from this guy's website.

Bruce Levey Antique Auto Parts in Ottawa

http://blaap.com/
Pretty correct looking stuff and good prices.

Heres what the 390 horse 427 one looks like.

I'm doing a 396 auto 66 Grande with AC so if I can help you with  a part or two let me know.  There is also a guy named Grande Jim who has a multitude of these.

You should get it checked out through GM Vintage Vehicle Services For a moderate fee you'll get the original option list,  production date a package of specs and other facts that they have on record. All very useful stuff.
Good luck eh!
