Really great news this CP L36 engine has found its way home!.
Again maybe it's time this site gets an Orphan parts section for original Vin stamped components that've gone astray?.

I'll tell ya what!  We'll sign up for the Reynolds museum History road thing and then have a rat race right in the middle of it.

Seriously my brother is tryign to get the 409 car road worthy for next summer. Getting it past an out of province  might be a bit of work the way she sits now but you never know.  it would be a great matchup thats for sure.

Hi guys I'M very happy with gettin the oringinal 390HP 427 for my 66 Grande Parisienne. I told Brent it was like he took the motor out and saved it from the ravages of time for the car. ii do need some of the oringinal alternator and power sterring brackets. Brent had put a 396 in the car when he sold it to someone in Fort Mac. When I got it there was a 350 chevy in it. It had been sitting for I believe he said 8 years so I'm thinking the 80000 miles on the odometer could be correct. I have a 66 GTO clone I want to drive this summerbut will work at getting the 427 in and new paint for next year.
Pretty cool to have the original block heads valve covers Hi rise and water pump.
The water pump is cast I thought I read somewhere that they were aluminum, maybe only in Vettes?

Hey Steve, it's Clint.  I'm Brent's buddy, the one that talked to you a number of years ago at Radium, and I kind of got this whole thing rolling.  The cast iron water pump is correct, even the date code is correct for the motor.   I know there were a few things missing like the oil pan and timing cover, I can likely help you out with the timing cover.

Hey Steven, great to see you on here ! I'm thinking it should have a cast iron high rise intake not an aluminum intake though ?? I think you mentioned to me earlier that it had an aluminum intake ??

yes it is cast he must have had it sandblasted,it just looks aluminum. yes Clint I need the timing cover. I had to use a chrome oil pan to install the 468 I have in it now. I assume I need a 800 cfm quadra jet??

The intake is cast iron, it was sandblasted years ago.  It might look aluminum, but the weight of it indicates it's iron.  The oil pan is different than a Corvette or Chevelle, not sure if there is anything different than other 65 - 70 B body big blocks or not.  I'd think they'd be the same.   You might have a tough time tracking down the correct carb, but it doesn't sound like you're in a huge hurry.   I'll take a look for the timing cover.

Howdy, according to the spec sheet i got from GM for my 66 Grande, your car would have had a rochester quadrajet number 7026205 if manual tranny or 7026204 if auto.

I can't remember if your car was a 4 speed or not.

if you want a copy of the detailed specs you  can either get George Zapora (GM vintage vehcles services to check out your vin and all that (he usually sends that package) or you can  pm me.

Is there any update on this car? I'd love to know the 427 has made it's way back into the original body.

Exactly, I noticed that when I checked last night so I'm hoping he's going to update us and say the "team" is back together again.

Hello I don't have much to update. I've picked up a few parts here and there, mostly at red deer swap meet. I'm in the midst of building a shop(wiring insulating) and when this is done, this winter I plan on rebuilding the 427 cleaning up the engine bay and then body work. I can't find the right camshaft for it and the closest I've found is a Comp Cams 268 H but was hoping to get performance in the 1000 to 5000 RPM range. I have not drove it for a while and sure miss the sound and pull of a big block. I check this site quite regularly and have got some great information from it thanks all.

Thanks for the update! As you can tell, many of us here have a great interest in your project...

So you're looking for more cam than stock. If you happened to follow my build thread I put just a touch more cam than stock in my 66 L36 engine when I rebuilt it this winter. I wish I had gone just a touch more but I would rather have too little than too much. These big cars aren't hot rods anyway!
