I tried setting up the engine, timming ,dwell. When I took the vacuume hose off the distributer it seemed to be in full advanced position. When disconnected in fully backed off position. The engine should advance as RPM goes up not full to begin with.I have trouble taking off, like its not timmed proper.
This is a bit of a long shot but by chance does it have a very worn distributor shaft? That is very common on those 6 cylinders in those years and they really act up bad when that happens.

I was told to check the little springs on the cam weights below the points.I was hoping to see one un hooked but they are still on.What would cause too much vacuum? My problem is the engine does not rev up through the power curve. It dissapears for a second then kicks in.Almost like an accelerator pump problem.Timing seems to be an issue also.
