Starting a stored engine.

Looking for some advice backed by experience.  There is a local car for sale ('67 Grand Prix) that was parked and not started in about 2 years.  Think it would be safe to start it up and drive it home?  I am concerned about the length of time the engine would have to turn over before it fired up.  Any chance of spinning a bearing or doing other damage?  Or should I change the oil and pull the distributor and prime the pump first?  Thanks!
