POWERGLIDE Shift shaft seal replace ???

Good morning Canada ;)

after making pics of my 283 Tri Power car system for this forum i saw that my Powerglide is leaking at the shift shaft seal.

I recently changed this seal at my other car the 65 Bonneville TH400 .. Had to remove the pan and it was a little tricky ..

How i have to change at the Powerglide?

Thx for any help

Cheers, Bjoern

Hi,
no answers, hm ..okay.

Done it last weekend.
I had to remove the Powerglide trans oil pan. There is a shield located under the shift shaft area which is screwed with two big screws. I remove this shield and you can see the shift shaft . The shift shaft has an extra shift shaft in. Thats for the Downshift and Kick down. These both shafts are sealed with an little O ring.
Both shift shafts are hold in place with an "clamp" inside. Theses clamps are hold in place with an screw.
You have to lose the screw a few turns and you can push these claps sidewards from the shafts with an screw writer and you can pull out of the Powerglide the shafts ..
Cleaned, oiled with fresh Dexron II

Pulling out the old shift shaft seal with an bended screw writer and i used an hammer and an german 16 or 5/8 nut to get the seal in place.. EASY

i changed the filter, and the oil, too .. now it`s dry and all works perfect.

Hope it will helps if anybody try to do .. 2 hours time for the first time ...
