B body 12 bolt, conversion to posi, any thoughts on gear suppliers?


I'm getting ready to completely rebuild the Gp's rear suspension. And while the standard 12 bolt diff is out, I'm going to add Posi.

Any thoughts on a good gear supplier before I click buy? The one that's sitting in the cart is a Richmond 3.55 set. 

I'm also going with an Eaton Posi unit and Moser axles.

 

Any thoughts?

 I just went with Motive Gear 3.55  with Eaton Posi, in My 69 Beaumont,  working great and quiet. Sealed well no leaks.

I've read that Richmond can be noisy and I'm guessing they're priced about the same. was $295 CDN.

i've used richmond gears a couple times, no issuses. 

gears are noisey if not setup properly.

Richmond gears are great. I went with a Detroit tru trac locker with Strange axles .

Did you do your own build?

I've heard Richmond can be noisy. But the overriding consensus is that's nonsense, opinion is, it's likely just a poor pattern or lack of proper pinion preload.

I went with a 3 series Eaton Posi. I will be using Super Shims on the carrier, and ditching the crush sleeve for a solid pinion spacer and shim.

Should all be here within 3 weeks (the Moser axles are backordered).

Looking forward to this rebuild. The rear end bushings are so toast, the rear end sounds like it's about to fall out over bumps.

I'll make a small post on the build.
