A tiring Job

I purchased some 15x7 used rims  (from 86 Caprice- Caprice ran 15x7's to clear locking wire wheel covers)  I didn't have a use for them until Project car appeared this year...

I wanted to duplicate the look/stance of the Strato Chief  so I ordered 15x8 Rally rims and trim rings this week   (billed to Bosses parts account no)

I ordered P235/75R-15 Hercules ww tires (same as on Chief)

I figured I would mount the ww tires on the 15x7 and bolt on Project car for a "Photo Op"  with 66 hub caps I have....

and then... mount the new tires.... BW.... on the Rally rims... for the permanent combo...

I did try Uncle Bernies 15x8 on the back before ordering new ones    Its close (as was the Chief) but work!!    I am totally old school wanting a nose up look   ( I don't care for lowered vehicles)

There is a photo of the P245/60R-14 (like new) BFG on 14x6 rally rims  (for sale)

and lastly.... there is a trivia question, that should arise...wink

...wow, didn't know they made that rally in a dual bolt pattern .....nice. what I don;t see is how the spinner caps are going to bolt onto that new wheel ?? I like the 60's x 14 ...that's my size but too far away.

have been dual bolt pattern for a few years   handy for those running a 9 inch Ford rear (e.g. racing)     The spinners are on rally wheel centres  They just snap on

I have the rims biggrin   and I thought it would be cool (especially since I have a tire changer) to mount them up and take photos   (just for the members who like the bare bones look)

The wide rally rim is my favorite   The 15x8 fills the wheelwells and gives it a "Wide Track" look  which I like

The 15x7's are scarce   The were on 77-89 Caprices and were needed to accomodate the wire wheel covers      I probably should keep them around

Me too!     I ran a tire shop in Clinton from 72-83 and a shop in Exeter from 1990-2006

and I still love the smell when you opened up 6... 40 foot trailers every morning.

I can tell you who made a tire by its smell   lol

Glad to see you're doing something with the spinners.  So do 15X8's fit in the back with enough clearance?  They were a bit too tight for my liking so I stuck with 15X7's. (I wanted to have the option to run skirts though.)

Totally agree, JC2+2 and I had this discussion a couple of weeks ago when he replaced the springs on his 1968 2+2.
These old Pontiacs look best with the nose slightly up, they don't look good with the rear higher.

This is when I used to winter drive my Strato Chief, nose up!!

Thanks
Randy

For street cars  I like them nose up     for race cars like the blue 61 409  they need to be nose down    I try to fix up my cars like the 60's

here Wills car from Sackville N.B.   (The first car that made the 50year impression on me)

          Yes  they are cry

Must be scarce (at the time it was last painted)

March 2015      If I had a Grande emblem and a Parisienne emblem   I might get them re-produced at a good sign shop

RE: A tiring Job              I was told the project needed a rear brake cylinder and front shoes for safety

White John (Uncle Bernie) was welding in the trunk I changed the wheel cylinder and shoes

The project from the West was a treat to remove the brake line and cylinder with 3/8th wrench

no torch required   biggrinbiggrinbiggrin
