Wheel to body clearance on the CP 59-70 B body cars.

So Just how much can one fit in the back on these cars? I've always wondered what will fit. I'm sure guys have maxxed out.

59-70, Passenger car.

Skirts or not. Standard rear tub of course.

Can we talk about what offsets we have with out B bodies. Describe your fitment, Skirts, wheel size, rubbing history, tire size, anything relevant etc, and the clearance it allows.

The idea is that we can decide what we might need to contain the maximum width of tire we can fit.

Short description as below if you may, can include both front and rear.

1967 Grande Parisienne 4 Dr HT. Skirt car.

17 x 8 Torque Thrust II. Not sure of the offset but will find out.

Skinny 235 -55 -17's. Firestone Indy 500 Firehawks. 26.3" Diameter.

Good on the front, no rub, but sitting high. Disc brake conversion, slightly wider track.

No rub on the back, about 1.5" between the skirt and tire. Unknown inboard. Aftermarket adjustable Panhard. Centered track. Close to stock rear ride height.

Stock wheel, rear, you could turn your hand sideways practically between the skirt and tire. With 8" Rally's with 255 TA's you could not fit a finger, and it was actually trouble to fit the wheel to the hub.

Had to jack the axle on the side to be removed so it would pivot up into the tub. Center away from the body lip. Unbolt and jimmy out. I suppose the next best would be to jack up on the frame, let the rear down and unbolt shocks. Let the axle down further.

66  2 door sedan  and 66 Grand Parisienne    1.  Same experience with 15X8's   real close    pinkie finger on SC   thickness of a piece of paper on GP

                                                                          2.  Stock offset 14x7   tons of room even with P245?60R014's     Stock 15x7 steel  4.5 BS   3/4 of a inch

                                                                          3.  new re-pro 15x7    1/8 inch left side  1/4 inch right side

The problem on the 66 is the lip you don't see.... fenders fold under and have a 1 inch edge towards the inside....

69 2+2

265/75r15 BFG Radial TA's F&R on 15x8 Vette Rallys,0 offset

the rear has at least a inch on either side of the tire

the front has at least 1.5 inches on the back side and a inch on the outside, the tire will rub full lock if I hit a bump

if I trimmed the fender lip and played with the back spacing a  305 or 315 would fit
