What kind of flywheel/clutch assembly do I need?

Hi guys, so I decided to send my Muncie to my friends shop to get inspected/repaired. Going to attach it to the 454. I had purchased a corvette flywheel and clutch assembly with the Muncie but I am now told it is way to small for the big block. I do not know much about car motors and transmissions.

Can anyone tell me what size I need for everything?

Thanks.

Also 454 takes a different flywheel with a larger weight

There are typically 2 sizes of clutches, 10.5" & 11".   Typically 10.5" clutches use a 153 tooth 12.85" OD flywheel.  11" clutches use a 168 tooth 14.2" OD flywheel.  454's are externally balanced, so they require a specific flywheel that has the external counterweight on the backside, and should be balanced to match the engine components.   With the different outside diameters (OD) of the flywheels, you need the starter to match that size of flywheel, and a bellhousing that will accommodate the starter in the pertinent position.

makes a 400 turbo look good    lol      just bolt...    if you go Muncie   just buy a good jobber clutch    those fancy clutches are overkill for a 4200lb street car

I had plans for a 454 install in my 72 Nova and bought up parts only to change my mind and go with a small block.
I bought a RAM (1521) billet steel flywheel, 168 tooth, 33 lb, 14.2" OD. External balance for engines with two piece rear main seal - sitting on a shelf in the box.
Also bought a set of Hedman ceramic coated headers which should fit your application (HED-68196) - sitting on top of the other box on the shelf.
Too bad you aren't closer to Winnipeg.

Make sure to match the clutch disc spline count to the input shaft of your trans.

And if you are installing a 4sp in place of an automatic you'll have to install a pilot bushing.

Thanks guys.

A turn of events. Just heard back from my friend at his transmission shop. Turns out the Muncie is completely destroyed on the inside and to the point where it's cheaper to buy one in running condition than repairing the existing one.

Gonna be using the 400T instead since it's ready to go, shy of a crossmember mount on the passenger side.
