K&N Oil filters

I've bought a K&N 3002 Filter for my BB build. Tough case. 10 micron media.

It has no bypass valve, which to me, makes big sense. And has an anti drain back valve which I guess is good. Do you always need the anti drain back? Is it advantageous?

Can I find any K&N filter listings anywhere on these CP pages?

Does the anti drain back valve matter? [Re: MajorCavalry]

In short, yes, it still matters.

Without one, the head pressure in oil galleries above would "backflow" through the filter and you'd lose that oil pressure prime when you next start the engine. Even with a vertically-mounted filter, a good ADBV is important.

When you change the oil, you should notice that a good bit of "extra" oil drains out when you remove the filter. This is evidence that your ADBV is working as intended, and is keeping those oil galleries above the filter primed with oil.

Few weeks ago, I bought a 2000 4Runner SR5, v6-3.4L and wife has a 3.5L-v6 Toyota RAV4.
- everything I've read, the engines need an anti-drain back flow valve Filter
I think its to ensure sufficient lube, on a cold startup / or something.

PS - I use to use Amsoil synthetic filter & oil, but it got expensive.
Amsoil use to use K&N to manufacture their good filters, maybe WIX now.
Now I use:
- Pennsoil Syn. made from clean Natural Gas / $32 (+ Tax) on Sale price at Canadian Tire, for a full 5L jug
- NAPA Platinum Oil Filter, with anti drain-back / extended life synthetic media filter, made by WIX...$24 tax in

NAPA cheaper line of oil filters, is Silver Series WIX and Gold Series WIX.

Thanks for the replys, I was being a smart aleck asking about any listings, trying to get people to click on the K&N banner, and maybe drumming up some orders.

I've been using a K&N HP 3002 for a while now, and have heard good things about them. And I do like the case nut. The Wix are well known as being good as well. To me, in theory the anti drainback seems a good idea, but I can't believe you'd be left with much of any oil in the galleries above the crank, as it would just "bleed out" anyway would it not? To my mind, the main issue with the lack of a anti drainback valve, would be that the returning oil above the filter could push oil out of the inlet side of the filter, returning crap to the pan.

I'd like to run a good quality (large) 2 Qt filter in my 496, but am having trouble finding one that has the anti drainback valve, and no pressure relief. Anyone know of one? I'm going with no pressure relief on the filter adapter.

Cheers, Mark
