350 block date code

Looking at a 350 from a motorhome.....late 70's I'm thinking...

Found a block #...3970010....and was  wondering where the block cast date was.....this thing is still fully dressed....so I need a direction.......

Below distributor ?

Any intel would be appreciated.....on the casting quality.....should I keep it?

It should be on the side opposite where you find the 3970010.

I've seen some with the date code down on the side of the block near the expansion plugs too but not very often.

I have found this to be a pretty good info source.

www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.html

Casting numbers don't tell you anything you didn't already know. 350, built between 69 and 79, 2 or 4 bolt mains, car, truck, and vette. So, it's one of 63 million or so. lol
