1969 Full size 396 & 427 production, how many were made?

There was a Canadian-built '69 Impala convertible sold new out of Alex Irvine Chev-Olds in Scarborough that had buckets, and LS1 427-335, TH400 & 2.56:1 rear. Champagne paint, fender skirts, disk brakes & 15" wheels with homely full wheel covers. I saw the docs online about 15 or so years ago when there was a supposed SS427 out of Texas that turned out to be the Irvine car.

Sometimes the horsepower rating had a big effect on insurance, so a 335-horse LS1 427 might not sound as fateful to underwrite as a 390-horse. Somebody still got their 427 with 470 lbs-ft of torque at 3200 rpm. The L36 was rated at 460 lbs-ft @ 3600 rpm.

What happened to Morleys hardtop...?

There was a 69 Chev Imp 427 AC car that just sold here in Ontario last month...

So I found the phone # and called the owner. Ended up we had a few things in common, I had worked at the shop that painted the car. He knew the previous owners, apparently bought by a very small GM dealership north of Toronto. The dealer owned it, then sold to his brother. The owner was very informative, I procrastinated on calling and missed the car. It's still in Ontario, (so far) and was bought cheap!!!

Does anyone have 1969 Pontiac Laurentian Wagon production numbers with the 427? I had a friend (who has since passed) who had a very rotten 69' wagon with a 427, auto, and posi. It had a big trailer hitch on it, so it looks like someone bought it for towing. Last I saw the car, it was missing the drivetrain, on a trailer leaving his property after he passed.

That would be an extremely rare car! It'd be nice to get a hold of the VIN.

there is no meaningful interpretation as they are grouped with Chev and include all models with various options, best I can figure is around 6-700 with L66 in all full size pontiacs.

So I didn't get anything on the 427's. When I request my VVS for the 427 car I'll ask for breakdowns if available.

To help with this discussion, I had to go back this far to clarify your thoughts( everyone)

For George to find your 427 Poncho is not to even be close to compare searching a data base to day.  The data base back in 1960-1980 was on microfiche sheets. A 5x3" transparency that was placed in the microfiche viewer. The view would be like looking at calendar months for 2-3 years. You would open each "month" that would be for a range of serial numbers for the cars delivered/produced to Canada. (So on one sheet there could be from 3-4000 Vins or more).

To look for a car(427) with a specific RPO, IF, IF the car was delivered in numerical sequence, it might pop up. BUT, if the car was held up for any production reason, (Brass hat, engine not available, strike) then the car may not show up in the numerical sequence for the make (Poncho)

So an "odd" 427,4spd, posi leather int, a/c might not show up in the VIN number search and it might be buried in the midst of another make of car.

I have microfiche copies of Corvettes with Corvair VIN's number sequentially on the sheet.

The system he has to work with is NOT punch in your VIN and the record comes up. He has to go to make (poncho, Olds), model (Laurention, Delta 88) , then look for your VIN and hope he finds it...
