Need A Parts Manual Phrase Interpretation

So, I am looking through the Canadian GM parts manual and I come across a phrase that I'm scratching my head over.confuse Next to the power steering pulley part number it reads:

"1969/ALL WITH 396-427 ENGINES T/W FIELD INSTALLED CAR COOLING."

What is considered 'car cooling'? In other pulley applications, it indicates that 'car cooling' could also be factory installed. Is it referring to engines with a fan clutch?

I believe they are talking about air conditioning.

From a Google search.....looks to be very general for an answer.

What do you mean by car cooling?

Car coolant, also known as antifreeze, protects engines from overheating. Coolant also lubricates the moving parts it comes into contact with, which protects damage to the water pump, head gasket, the cylinder and piston timing.Jul 7, 2020

I agree with the air conditioning interpretation. If I remember correctly the A/C cars had a two groove power steering pump pulley and non A/C cars had one groove.

So, then, they refer to 'car cooling' only when it was installed by the dealer, and refer to it as 'FACT INST AC' if it was done at the factory. Interesting. Thanks for the clarification!

Yes, odd as it seems, apparently there were dealer installed A/C units. Must have been quite a job.

No, but thanks for asking Clint! I was just verifying a part number on an extra pulley that I have.

One. The pulley is bent, but I was curious to see if it matched any of the part numbers listed. It didn't.
