RE: My New Radio Show

OK guys new show tonight!

I'm calling it the Itchy and Scratchy (Mostly Scratchy!) show as it will feature LP's 45;s and 78s from my stash, some of which have seen better days.

It has been suggested to me that some people like the sound of a record playing with a few ticks  and pops as it sounds kind of retro, so you will get your fill tonight!

There will be songs you have not heard for decades and a bit of info about the records along with some really cool LP tunes that sound pretty darn good even today!

Also throwing a bit of a salute to a few departed artists and a tip of the hat to the hard working fire fighters and pilots I have worked with recently.

So tune in at 1800 hrs Alberta time on the BOREAL FM web live fed and feed your itch!

You're not allowed to go walking unless you record shows ahead of time for them to play while you walk....

From what Alyson the manager has told me I will be on the regular schedule (that is actually promoted etc.) in September.  Assuming we make the walk and return in mid November, that would mean I would need  a bunch of shows recorded. When I have had the chance lately I have been going in and taping some of the early ones as they had never been captured. I'm trying to build up an inventory of about 14 or 15. So far I have about 10, so I have a few more to get down before we go.   All for a few faithful listeners! (no idea how many actually.)

Sometimes I wonder about me.

...and then there is my long sufferiing wife and the rest of the family that I haven't alienated yet.  That bumps it up from a "couple" to an official "few".  Looking promising!

Hi Guys here is my bump (an my intro) for the radio show tonight.  Always looking for new listeners but this may not do it! we'll see..

DR JOHNNY GEEZER AKA KEN YACKIMEC THE OLD CURMUDGWON WITH ONE MORE EDITION OF POTAGE DU MUSIC ON THE GREAT BOREAL FM OUT OF PLAMONDON ALBERTA ON 92.1 FM OR ON THE INTERNET ALL OVER THE WORLD !  BAXTER THE SINISTER, MOUSE EATING PROdDUCER IS ON THE BOARD AGAIN TONIGHT, LITERALLY.  GET OFF THERE AND GET TO WORK, YOU!

TIME TO GET OVER SOME SONGS NOT BEING COOL ENOUGH TO HEAR ON THE RADIO   THIS WEEK I AM FEATURING SOME OF MY CHOICES AND SOME  REQUESTS FOR SONGS THAT WE ALWAYS SECRETLY LIKED BUT COULDNT PLAY IN FRONT OF OUR COOL FRIENDS.  WELL NOW THEYRE OUT THERE! THEY COULD BE SONGS THAT ARE JUST CATCHY, JUST STUPID, JUST FUNNY OR JUST MAYBE TOO SENTIMENTAL TO STICK ON A NORMAL PLAYLIST, WHICH THIS SHOW IS NOT!

Perfect lead-off song Ken. We had the album when I was a kid. I am not lying if I say I listened to the song at least a thousand times when I was a kid.

Ken, I decided tonight while listening, you are having way too much fun doing this. If they catch on to that at the station, they will know you'd keep on doing it even if they cut your pay in half. Better be careful...!

Is there a show on Monday? If so, does it have a theme?

Hi Carl there will indeed be a show!   We leave for Europe for three months on Tuesday but I couldn't leave you guys without one last one.

The theme, such as it is, is "Some Heroes Of Mine". I will play a longish salute to Stan Rogers, Some Jesse Winchester and a bit of Robbie Robertson of  course, including one of the only three lead vocals he ever did with the Band.

Otherwise there will be some fun car stuff, some country singers that aren't singing about beer, small towns or pickup trucks and even a few Spanish tunes.

I hope you tune in guys!   '

Starting in September I am told that I will be back on the regular Monday 6-8 schedule.  I have rerecorded a bunch of the early shows and the most  recent ones so they will use those as a catalogue in case you want to rehear any of this. Should carry me through.

I should be back in mid November if all goes well so I will have three months to think of ways to get more entertaining!

Thanks Don, we start in Reims on the 16th and with luck and no injuries should wobble into Rome by mid November. My wife will be putting out a blog but I don't know the link just yet.  i will post it here if any one wants to see as I turn from unprepared, pudgy and pale to wiry, weathered and sunburned.   Hope this works out! Its a long ways to walk.
