11" clutch for big block?

Man, in the past it was easy. Rock Auto or my local parts store. I would order a Luk or a Sachs clutch and no worries. Now neither one of them list a stock replacement clutch for a 66 396/427. Any of you guys buy one lately? If so, what did you buy?

So far it looks like LUK 04-049 might be the one.

If I recall, when there was all the discuss about pilot bearings a few years ago, I checked and the LUK clutch you speak of was in stock at Auto Value here in Calgary, and also at Lordco in Calgary.

Interesting. Our local store is an Auto Value. I'll have to give them a call.

Carl... Which bell house are you using, the 621 or the 444?

Where did you find the Luk part 3 to fit your car? It should be the same for my car too, but looking at Summit it says that part # will not fit...

  I have a 464697 bellhousing.  I'm not sure what a LUK Part 3 is?

Ah, gotcha. I'm going to poke around online and see if I can find a LUK listing I trust.

RE: 11" clutch for big block?

I just checked back and in 2012 I did a 4 speed conversion in the 66 Grande Parisienne that I ended up selling to Tom in Edmonton. As far as I know he still has that same clutch in it, at least when I saw him and the car 2 weeks ago he never mentioned having had any clutch issues.

On that car I installed LUK 04-049 clutch kit and it fit perfectly so I guess I'll be doing that again on this one. I think that's what I put in my Strato Chief too but I'll have to check back to be sure.

Ok... I'll take your word for it. I checked it online in several sites and they said the same. Summit, doesn't usually screw up. If you used that # before that's good enough for me.
Now do you need the "long" pivot ball with that bell house?

These 2 threads should pretty much cover all the fine details for the swap, including the pivot ball.

Carl, were you able to attain the proper LUK part # for a 11" clutch kit?  Is it the 04-049 that you speculated last night?

This one worked fine in 2012 so it's gotta be right.
