Hey quick question, Difference between big block and small block power steering pump

For 1970 ( and I presume the same for 1969) the difference is where the return line attaches.
On the small block it goes into the back of the reservoir, whereas on the big blocks it goes into the side of the reservoir.

I'm guessing you broke off the return line.

I'm in a power outage right now, I will check in the morning.

It is possible that the 2+2 427 car was using a small block pump switched sometime in the past.

I hope the shaft length is the same between AC and non-AC cars.

I plan to pull the pump Saturday to see where the leak is.

It is funny with the former broken arm, just a little wrong twist and you lose all strength confuse

From what I see the only two V8 pumps for 1969 are small or big block, A/C shouldn't matter.

a little derail guys or sorta. I got a lesson on small and big block steering column shafts and rag joints for a bodys. Are they also different on B body cars?

I think a/c might have the 2 groove power steering pump pulley, other than that no difference between a/c & non a/c.

69 & 70 pumps are different, the sex of the pressure hose is different between the two years.

No difference re shafts & rag joints on b-body cars.

Just the A body due to clearance issues that B body doesn't have.

Ok, halfway mark, Toast, coffee and CP.

Found a wing nut from days gone by biggrin

My 350 pump,

and the other big block one,

Looks like I wharped the reservoir, where it meets the pump.

The bearing has some play in it as well.

Live and learn.

Can you get a replacement reservoir of the same design? They're usually obsolete, and need to move to the reservoir with a much more squared neck.

The Oct 68 pump has a female fitting.

The March 69 pump is male.

We have a really good pump rebuilder in London, Ontario.

I am going to pop in there, Monday, after work.

So I need a case with a male fitting.
