So heres the deal. I want to put my motor and tranny in my 65 Canso.
283 with powerglide. Heres the issue. The dude that pulled it doesnt really want to assist. Not a big deal. However, I need to mate up the tranny to the engine. Again, no big deal. The big deal (in my eyes anyway) is that the flex plate to converter bolts as well as the tranny housing to the engine bolts are in a box, with a BUNCH Id other fasteners.
so - how long should the to engine bolts be that Im looking for? Use Lock washers? Lock tite?
- the three bolts that connect the converter to flexplate - length. nuts and washers? im sure what I need is in the tickle trunk, I just need to know what Im searching for.
then anything special to keep in mind wind putting together? What are the blue marks on the converter for?

Are you aware of the procedure to make sure the converter is installed properly into the transmission? It needs to do two "clicks" while you rotate and push on it when you install it into the trans before you bolt the trans to the engine. If not, I can describe it in detail for you or you could call me. If you don't do it correctly you will break the pump on the transmission in a matter of minutes when you drive the car. Again, no big deal. The big deal (in my eyes anyway) is that the flex plate to converter bolts as well as the tranny housing to the engine bolts are in a box, with a BUNCH Id other fasteners.

I'm not sure which of the 2 bolts in the picture is correct for the trans to engine but they should look very much like these. I think around 1 3/8" to 1 1/12" long. I've seen them with or without lockwashers on them. Guys, what do you say? What is original?

The little bolt in the picture and the nut is the correct Powerglide stuff. I've never seen them with any washers. I don't know the length but they are very unique looking bolts and are find thread. You won't have anything else that looks like them. I tighten them pretty hard. The bolts are very strong and I've never stripped one.

I wouldn't worry at all about the marks. There is no particular way to index the converter, you just have to make sure it's properly engaged into the pump.
I'll PM you my number. As far as I know I'm in the garage all day tomorrow so a call will be great.
