RE: Can an old canister style fuel sender be repaired?

100% Bruce. A coating on any low voltage fine contact will mess things up. And a gas tank is one hell of an environment, especially now when water gets absorbed by the E.

Sadly, I think we will need to be adding something every fill. It's not too big of a burden all told I guess and I'm ready to do it.

I was blessed when I opened the 2GV that Randy had installed some years ago. It was clean as new, seriously, looked new. But heh, Randy always used no ethanol.

It's only just this last fall that it got introduced into the PetroCan 94 (Ex Sunoco) and the Shell Nitro. So we are in for it. And wait it gets snuck up to 20% which it will because green.

I think I used to put in the tank maybe 2-3 times a year. When ever I could get a couple of cans, they were like "hens teeth" here in Ontario. But I was able to find some and only had to use it sparingly, It seems to stop the coating problem altogether after a couple of cans....

Bead blasted and paint. New 24" ground wire soldered on.

Not sure if the outlet tube is worth saving. It has to be very thin in spots.

I've bought a Delphi FS0136 Sock off amazon. From a 90-94 Mazda MPV. It's 1 5/8" wide and tall by 8" long. Comes Monday. Will try to adapt the old push clip into that new mount.

If it works I'll have a functional sender.
