Just Another 427 Powered '69 Pontiac Convertible.
(

(Preview)
This one is "only" an auto and is a Parisienne. I knew about it a few years ago and likely posted these photos on here. I thought about it again and reached out to the person who told me about it. He has since moved away from the town this car is located in but is going to try to contact the owner. I seem to recall...

Body harness questions - power windows, etc
(Preview)
I'm trying to clean/restore/repair all of the harnesses in my car. There's one big harness that goes under the carpet and carries stuff to the back, where it connects to the tail harness. I was trying to figure out how to remove/disconnect the rear power window harnesses from the main harness, but th...

Who came up with the 1969 Assembly Manual?
(Preview)
Last year some tall, handsome, and kind gentleman came up with the Microfiche for the 1969 Canadian assembly manual. A number of us pitched in and got it printed. I was going to paste a couple of pages out of it to point out some air cleaner differences but wanted to get his permission first but cannot f...

Original in the foreground, Summit racing no-name knockoff center in the background (or left, depending on how it rotates today). Closer than any of the Chevy caps I've seen!

Why are alternators so crazy expensive?
(Preview)
I've got almost all my original parts, from block to heads to trans and rear end, even the distributor. Water pump is right, carb is right, intake is right, everything except... the alternator. It has no AC so it's just the base 37 amp, number 1100837. But date coded ones on eBay are $1500-$2200, and th...

Dash Script - I'm making replacements
(Preview)
So I'm working on having a silver "Dry transfer" (pencil rub) sheet made with our logos for the dash appliques. I've done 2+2 and Brougham, as they were the first needed, and have tinkered with Bonneville. It'd be nice to have the Canadian Pontiac "Parisienne" and "Pontiac" and even the "Grande Pari...

Pontiac NOS Parts Porn of the Day
(
1 2
)
(Preview)
I managed to find an NOS horn shroud in red, quite a score for me! I spend money in inverse relation to how much time you spend looking at it, and the steering wheel and instrument cluster come in near the top of that list...For the curious they share the same part number. -- Edited by davepl on Thursday 1...

L36 four speed survivor photo
(Preview)
Here's a pic of a 1969 L36 survivor, still with the AIR tubes even. I can't explain the 427 valve cover decal though. It appears to be a four speed car because there's no heat stove or thermac on the air cleaner. And it's an L36 snout on the air cleaner. -- Edited by davepl on Sunday 28th of January 2018 0...

Do 1969 Front Fenders interchange with anything?
(Preview)
I had a body man out to look over my 2+2 today, and the front fenders are pretty rotted out behind the wheels. The fender itself there is pretty simple, but the structure and bracing under it is not, so if I have another set of rust-free fenders, I'd use them. I'm under the impression though that the US and...

What would be a good "non-vanity" plate for a 427 Pontiac?
(Preview)
Long story short, I can likely request a specific plate number if it's not already in use, so long as it matches the pattern that WA state used in 1969, which is AAA-999. I don't want too corny, this is a "classy" car. So no BIG 427 or HOT 427 for me PNT 427? CDN 427? You'd think it'd be easy, but I'm d...

LS1 and L36 427 Information Inside

I pulled the assembly manual pages for the LS1 and L36 427 engines so anyone trying to be "correct" can get the details right. Thanks to Carl Stevenson for the initial find! http://1969pontiac.com/LS1L36.pdf

1969 four speed blockoff plate (pic)
(Preview)
I had to fake one of these for my coupe not knowing they were just black, so we made a nice one out of that same brushed aluminum on the dash, put PONTIAC script on it... it's 10X nicer than the real thing, which is below! I'd never seen one until this car, and it's just a black (or dark blue, but I think its blac...

427/390 has only a 3 core radiator?
(
1 2
)
(Preview)
I counted, and it's still an original-looking Harrison tank. But it's only a 3-core. Maybe you need V02 Supercooling to get 4-core, or maybe there was no four-core, or only AC cars got four core. Anyone know? This is not an AC car, so I suspect big block alone gets only a 3-core?

Side glass
(Preview)
When MCR installed my coupe I went for all new side glass. It was a bit of a jump, because it likely wasn't cheap, but it turns out to be very important to the finished feel of the car. My convertible has a tinted windshield but, not being an AC car and not having the option, just has normal side glass. But i...

Anyone have trunk lock parts out and easily photographed?
(Preview)
I had to have my coupe's trunk lock drilled out and in the 2 years since, I'm not sure if I've lost some of the parts. Because I put it with my "lock stuff" and now I have 4 of some things and none of others! I remember there's a retainer plate, a screw, the lock itself, and a link bar. Is that it? -- Edited by da...

F40 15/16" sway bar bushings
(Preview)
Anyone know where I can find them? I can find lots that come with their own greaseable (zirc) mounts, but that's what I have now. Ideally I need the bushings AND the mounts because the original mounts should not have zircs. I assume the mounts are the same car to car, so I'm wondering if I can get a set of o...
