Wow Carl...... Here the 2 of us are "micro researching" the conversion. I thought this welding of the bracket was very crucial, thinking that if the Z bar was not straight and accurate that there would be a problem....

Yeah, I think us Mythbusters squashed that myth with these pictures! And both of these cars are cowl tag coded as factory 4 speeds so the sloppy work is not some guy in his back yard, it's assembly line work.

Well, I guess it's like cutting the shifter hole, just use the torch. Maybe the same guy has to weld the bracket on... "Oh, that's good Bob, tack it there, close enough, owww 2 four speeds in a row, better hurry!"

For and aft, and maybe outboard some mounting the bracket and you're ok, but too far inboard and you run out of room to fit the z bar pipe.
