STILL GOT THE SHAFT
(Preview)
At macsleth's suggestion, I jacked up the car off rear suspension, and the drive shaft is still too long.. So I tried the yoke and shaft into the 350 turbo, still sitting on floor. Amazing! the yoke slides ALL the way in to the trans, leaving room for driveshaft install.. BUT the yoke and shaft on...

driveline question 65-70 B body
(Preview)
If a 350 turbo, and a Muncie 4 speed, are the same length, would it not be reasonable, to think the driveshaft out of either application ,would be the same. I took out the driveshaft out (with the car sitting on its suspension) last winter .. Today the driveshaft wont go back in? Did it stretch over the...

Suggestions to replace a wornout QJet 4MV on my 68 Parisienne 396

Hi guys, I have been struggling with my original QJet 4 barrel carb for some time and was recently told by a good carb guy that it was junk and basically "un-rebuildable". I don't know alot about these and I trust his opinion. I would like to replace it with another numbers-matching rebuilt o...

Water Pump Question
(

)
(Preview)
Now that the engine in my Laurentian is apart awaiting a cam, I decided to check out the numbers. Sure enough, the 350 is the original motor (oooh, a numbers matching Laurentian!). One interesting thing I noticed is the water pump date code (Jan.31 69) is later than the selling date of my car (Sept. 13 6...

Cruise cooling options for 68 2+2 @ 396
(Preview)
Hi guys and gals, I have always struggled with cooling my 396 when cruising around town. It's fine on the highway, constantly 185 degrees. I put a flex fan on to pull and that helped but now I'm thinking about putting an electric push fan on the front, with just a toggle switch to turn it on when cruising. W...

Mallory HEI dist. How to wire?
(Preview)
Installed the Mallory billet distributor that I picked up years ago in USA for $99. Looks good, but touches the 14" breather. It's huge! Probably will need an offset Moroso air cleaner. In hindsight, should have waited and bought somthing a little more compact. Still might. Like a MSD setup....

Looking for intake and carb upgrades for '68 396 2+2

Hi there, There seems to be alot of recommendations out there, but no real-life experience I've found. My '68 2+2 has the 396, 325 hp engine with the original Q-Jet 4 barrel and I've lots of problems with it. I thought about upgrading to an Edelbrock intake and Holly carb. My Summit brand headers arrived today. Ceramic coated, USA made. Not too bad looking for $240 to my door. Seem to fit pretty good, nice finish, but obviously road testing will tell the tale. I know cheaper headers can have sealing issues. We'll see, but there was a time when USA made ceramic coate...

I have the full gauge package instument cluster and I'd like to get the correct senders for both oil pressure and temperature, in the hope the instruments would actually work.
