Big block conversion thread
(Preview)
So a site member and I were talking about him doing a big block swap on his 66 Grande Parisienne, (currently a small block). He said when the time came he would be asking me about certain things he was unsure of that may be required for the conversion. That triggered the idea to do a big block swap thread. I w...

I figure I might try to document the conversion of the 65 Laurentian, from power glide to a 4 speed Muncie M20. I'll ad that Carl Stevenson has been a invaluable resource on this conversion, and has helped me out immensely. thanks Carl! And be sure to check out Dave's conversion post sticky as well. I'll...

It can be smooth when the bolts turn like new. Even the lines came undone. No rust. Drivers side needed the Vice Grip, but only just (because I wasn't willing to wait for the PB Blaster to work). But I'm sort of worried about the flex line to main chassis line. Cracked it open and pulled the axles. They hav...

67 and older 4 speed shifter restoration
(Preview)
I've decided to make an attempt at "tightening up" an original shifter for my 66. This is the same shifter body that was used in Canadian Pontiacs, Beaumonts, Acadians, numerous Chevrolets and I think maybe some Buicks prior to 1967. I have it all disassembled and need to order some parts for it. Fo...

I've thought it might of of interest to document my TH400 build, hopefully sparking some discussion around of what is best. Like my rear end build, the transmission was originally one of those things "Black art" and best thought as being left to the pro's. I have had very good success with my 12 bolt bui...

427 Fuel pump change
(Preview)
I decided to work on this Pontiac instead of dreaming of other cars. The diaphragm had blown out of the fuel pump in September. This aftermarket filter needed to go as well. Lots of imposters out there. The right one was on the car and requires rubber hoses for all connections. 2nd from the right, is a "C...

65-66 US gauge cluster oil sender recalibration
(Preview)
Some of you may be tired of me talking about these nice US clusters (with oil and temp gauge) that we never got in our Canadian cars. They are hard to find, expensive to buy and on top of that they use a unique oil pressure sending unit that was never used in any other GM vehicle. Those senders are tough to fi...

Need an Unbiased Opinion on how much this 396/400 turbo is worth
(

(Preview)
Hi guys I pulled this out of a 67 Pontiac GP lately but have no plans for it myself at the moment. It was not original to the car but the date code on the intake indicates it is a 1967 build and the engine number indicates it came with a Turbo 400 which is still attached. The engine/ tranny is very very complete...

1966 Fuel Pump for 396 or 427
(

(Preview)
When I rebuilt my 427 a few years ago, I wanted an original looking fuel pump but wasn't eager to pay the price for NOS. The fittings on the 66 pump didn't carry over into 67, so in Canada it was a unique pump. I think the US cars with a 396 in 65 used the 66 style pump but of course we never had them here. I bought...

THM400 Rebuild Options in SWO

Hi guys, I got the expected bad news today that my THM400 in my 68 2+2 with a 396, needs to be rebuilt. I've talked to several shops here in London and few, if any, want to take it on. Has anyone had any luck with rebuilders in southwestern Ontario? Preferably, I'd like to take the car to wherever, have them d...
